Collette Named to GSAC All-Conference Team, Knight Named GSAC Freshman of Year
San Dimas, CA – Two Warriors, Bailey Collette and Lilly Knight, received honors from the GSAC Conference this afternoon. Senior outside-hitter Bailey Collette was named to the GSAC All-Conference team, marking this as the first time she has received this honor. Freshman right-side hitter Lilly Knight was named the GSAC Freshman of the Year, the first time a Warrior has received this award. The Warriors finished their season this past weekend, finishing with an overall record of 15-13 and 6-8 in the GSAC, resulting in them narrowly missing the GSAC Tournament.
When asked to reflect on the honors that Collette and Knight received, Coach Wes Schneider stated, "Bailey has worked so hard on her game for 4 years and it has been seen with her development. She has committed herself to her craft and to her team and it had a tremendous impact this season. She gave her all to this program!! I am so proud of her hard work and so happy that she received this recognition by the Coaches in the conference! Lilly is such a hard-worker as well and she definitely earned this freshman of the year honor. It is such a difficult adjustment coming directly from high school and playing immediately at the collegiate level, but Lilly came in with the right tools and work ethic to make the difference! She has the desire and focus to continue her growth, and I can't wait to see what the future holds for her!"
#5 Bailey Collette
Bailey Collette has been a four-year contributor and impact player for the Warriors, dating back to her freshman season when she started in 8 of the Warrior's 27 matches. With the recent graduation of former GSAC Player of the Year, Hannah Caddow, there was an attacking opportunity in the lineup, and Collette filled in seamlessly for LPU. #4 Lilly Knight
Lilly Knight was named the GSAC Freshman of the Year, establishing the presence in the GSAC that she will have for the years to come. Immediately, she had an impact for the Warriors, cementing herself as a prominent force at the net for LPU. Knight does a little bit of everything as she posted a season-high in blocks with 7 blocks in the Warrior's 5-set loss at Benedictine Mesa. She finished with a season-high 11 kills in the Warrior's last match against The Master's University.
For the season, Knight finished with 174 kills at 2.05 kills per set, while hitting .194. She also finished with 55 digs and 52 blocks.
