Warriors Recover From 2-1 Deficit, Defeating Spirit in 5 Sets of Quarterfinal Matchup

San Dimas, CA – On Thursday evening, the Warriors from Life Pacific and the Spirit of OUAZ faced off in a rematch from last year's GSAC Quarterfinal matchup.  The result would end up being the same, as the Warriors climbed back from a 2-1 deficit to defeat the Spirit in 5 sets (25-21, 20-25, 23-25, 25-16, 15-11).  With the win tonight, the #3 seed Warriors will take on #2 Menlo Oaks tomorrow evening at 7pm.

Starting in the 1st set, the tone for the match was apparent; this match was going to go 5.  Both teams came out hungry and were aggressive with their attack, resulting in a back and forth first set.  The Warriors were able to pull out the 1st set by a final score of 25-21, but the Spirit were not going anywhere.  They rallied, taking the next 2 sets with authority, as Cristal Carrizoza did a fantastic job spreading the ball around to her attackers, resulting in 4 different Spirit players getting 10 or more kills for the match.  After taking a 2-1 lead, the Spirit were leading mid-way through the 4th set, with their sights set on securing the win and moving onto the next round.  Reigning GSAC Player of the Year, Hannah Caddow, had other plans for the match.  With the 4th set at 19-15 in the Warrior's favor, Caddow served 4 straight aces to help propel the lead to 23-15, with LPU ultimately taking the 4th set.  In the 5th set, Audrianna Guzman and Caddow paced the attack for LPU and the Warriors were able to come out victorious, 15-11.
