Warriors Sweep Tri-Match Against Providence and West Coast Baptist
San Dimas, CA – The Life Pacific Volleyball program hosted their first home matches of the season in the Tri-Match against Providence Christian College and West Coast Baptist College. In both matches, the Warriors took the victories rather decisively, with both of the victories coming by way of sweep. With the wins, the Warriors improve to 6-2 on the season. They have their sights set on the University of Saint Katherine's tournament, where they will be taking on UC Merced.
In the first match of the day, the Warriors took on NAIA opponent, Providence Christian College. From the beginning of the match, the Warriors came out as the aggressors, capitalizing on the early attacks at the net. That momentum carried all the way throughout the rest of the match, thanks to a balanced attack from LPU. The Warriors were led by their usual suspects in reigning GSAC Player of the Year, Hannah Caddow, who led the team with 10 kills, while Mackenzie Stewart and Audrianna Guzman both finished with 8 kills. Lindsey Johnson, Maddie Robertson, and Marissa Ryerson, did a great job putting the hitters in positions to succeed. LPU took the match in 3 sets by a final score of 25-12, 25-16, 25-20.
For the second match of the day, LPU was led by Hailee Heim and Daniela H'Orvath, who both set the tempo with their serves. Heim finished with a career high, 7 service aces, while H'Orvath finished with 6 aces respectively. On the attack, Mackenzie Grooms, Kate Smith, and Kate Murray, paced the Warriors as they combined for 19 kills. Grooms finished with 7 of those kills, while hitting an impressive .700 for the match. On the back line, Kei'ana Pascua and Kate Smith led the Warriors, as Pascua finished with 9 digs and Smith with 7. This match mirrored the first one in that LPU controlled the pace of play from the beginning and won the match in straight sets: 27-17, 25-21, 25-11.
