Volleyball 2023 Season Preview

San Dimas, CA – Life Pacific University's Volleyball team enter the 2023 season returning their entire starting lineup behind Coach Wes Schneider. Coach Wes Schneider now enters his 2nd year leading the volleyball program. This season, Schneider will be assisted by new addition and LPU volleyball alumni, Jasmine Broad.

In 2022, the Warriors finished their season with an overall record of 16-8 and 11-7 in the GSAC. This record saw them finishing 4th overall in the GSAC with a close loss in the semifinals of the GSAC tournament.  In the 2022 season, the Warriors took down (RV) Westmont College for the first time in program history. Alongside this achievement, the Warriors also made it to the GSAC tournament for the first time in program history. The Warriors finished out their season with both senior Outside Hitter, Hannah Caddow, and sophomore Right Side Hitter, Audrianna Guzman, being named to the GSAC All-Conference Team. In a historic season where Caddow set the LPU record for kills, she was also named the GSAC Player of the Year, marking this as the first time any LPU student-athlete has received this honor.

Alongside Caddow, the Warriors are returning the entire starting lineup from the 2022 season, Mackenzie Stewart, Audrianna Guzman, Allison Ayala, Bailey Collette, Mackenzie Grooms and Caitlin Riden. Both starting setters Daniela H'Orvath and Lindsey Johnson, who finished 4th in conference in A/S, are returning. Emma McMillan, leader in Service Aces per set in the GSAC, also returns to the Warriors while looking to hold that spot in leader board.

The returners are joined by a recruiting class of five newcomers who are poised to make an immediate impact in the 2023 season:

  • Kate Smith
  • Peyton Ertle
  • Kei'ana Pascua
  • Jadyn Armstrong
  • Mallory Villarreal

LPU kicks off their season on August 17th at La Sierra University's preseason tournament where they play Aquinas College (MI), La Sierra University, and University of Antelope Valley.

Wes Schneider enters his second season as the Head Coach of the program, looking to build off of a great first season with the Warriors in 2022. When asked to share his thoughts about the upcoming season, Coach Schneider stated, "We are looking forward to our first full year together. Returning an entire team and adding a few great people has made this an exciting year for LPU volleyball. The team has been training hard and grown a great deal. I can't wait to see how it plays out!"
