Warriors Finish Regular Season With Sweep Over Hawks

San Diego, CA – On Saturday afternoon, the Warriors took a trip south to San Diego to take on the San Diego Christian Hawks in the regular season finale.  For the second time this season, the Warriors defeated the Hawks in straight sets, 3-0 (25-17, 25-15, 25-13).  With the victory, LPU finishes the regular season with an overall record of 15-7 and an 11-7 record in the GSAC.  For the first time in program history, the Warriors have reached the GSAC tournament, as LPU finished 4th place in the GSAC.  They will open up in the GSAC tournament next week with a first round matchup against the tournament host, #5 OUAZ.

The Warriors were led on the attack by Hannah Caddow and Audrianna Guzman, as Caddow finished with an efficient 12 kills on 27 swings (.407 hitting %), followed by Guzman's 10 kills on 17 swings (.588 hitting %).  Defensively, the usual defenders came up big for the Warriors as Emma McMillan, Allison Ayala, and Hannah Caddow led the way on the back line.  McMillan finished the match with 11 digs and 5 service aces.  Ayala and Caddow both finished with 9 digs each.  Lindsey Johnson led the way for the Warriors in the setter position, finishing with 21 assists, 6 digs, and 1 kill.  Mackenzie Stewart continued her stellar play as she does everything on the court for the Warriors.  She finished with 2 kills, 6 blocks, 3 digs, and 2 service aces.

As Coach Wes Schneider reflected on the regular season finale, he stated, "We had a nice finish to our regular season down in SD today.  We really had some great performances by everyone today.  It was great to see the ladies bounce back after such an exciting match last night.  We are looking forward to getting ready for the GSAC tournament now!  I know that the ladies are ready and we can't wait until this weekend."
