LPU Welcomes Shane Shelton as Women's Soccer Head Coach
San Dimas, CA - Life Pacific University Athletics is excited to announce Shane Shelton as the next Head Women's Soccer Coach.
Shane brings over 11 years of collegiate coaching experience and three years in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL). Throughout his career, he has served as the Head Coach for both the Men's and Women's Soccer programs at Pacific Union College, where he built the women's program from the ground up and led the team to the CALPAC playoffs within just two seasons. He has also been the Head Coach for Deportivo Coras in the NPSL, an Assistant Coach at Hope International University and La Sierra University. As a player, Shane competed at the collegiate level for La Sierra University and California Baptist University before continuing his career in the NPSL with Deportivo Coras.
Shane's journey into coaching began when a trusted mentor encouraged him to step into the role after college, recognizing his ability to inspire and lead. That opportunity ignited a deep passion for developing student-athletes and helping them reach their full potential. Faith has been the foundation of his life, shaping his values, purpose, and approach to coaching. He has experienced God's guidance through both triumphs and challenges and strives to reflect His love and grace in all that he does. Shane sees coaching as more than just a profession, it is an opportunity to disciple and mentor young athletes. He is passionate about fostering an environment where players can grow spiritually, academically, and athletically, using their gifts to glorify God in all they do.
Originally from Joshua Tree, California, Shane earned his bachelor's degree in history from La Sierra University. He is married to his best friend, Kristie, and together they recently welcomed their first son, Darrow. When he's not on the field, Shane enjoys spending time with his family, exploring the outdoors, camping, and hiking.
When asked to share about what it means to join LPU, he stated, "I am thankful to the Athletics Department and the hiring committee for their trust in my vision as the steward for the Women's Soccer program at LPU. I am committed to the growth of these young women spiritually, academically, and athletically and am excited to build on the foundation laid by Coach DeSantis. Go Warriors!!"
