Lopez Named GSAC Defender of the Week

San Dimas, CA - Freshman goalkeeper, Valerie Lopez, has been named the GSAC Defender of the Week, following her performance in LPU's matches over this past weekend.  The Warriors went 1-0-1 this past weekend on the road, as they finished with a 0-0 tie against Park University and then defeated Benedictine Mesa, 2-0.  Following the two matches this weekend, the Warriors secured their first victory of the season and tallied 4 points while sitting tied at 5th in the GSAC standings.

DEFENDER OF THE WEEK - VALERIE LOPEZ

Lopez was instrumental for the Warriors in both matches as she came in the second half of the match against Park and helped the Warriors finish in a tie as she made 3 second-half saves.  She then followed Thursday's performance up by securing a shutout, as she made 11 saves in the Warrior's 2-0 victory over Benedictine Mesa.  On the weekend, she made 14 saves with a save % of 1.000.  For the season, Lopez has a .706 save % in 5 matches.
