Women's Soccer 2023 Season Preview

San Dimas, Ca – Life Pacific University Women's Soccer team enter the 2023 season with an entirely new group. After taking two gap years as a program in 2021, the Warriors will look to re-establish themselves in the GSAC this Fall. The Warriors are led by second-year Head Coach, Joey DeSantis, who is looking to build a successful foundation with this team.

 

As they enter the 2023 season, the Women's Soccer team is led on the attack by forwards, Brianna Figueroa and Angela Scott-Orihuela. The midfielder group consists of steady play from Ellyanna Edwards, Alma Carroll, Audrey Corral, Selah-Joy Nakamura. The backline of the defense is held down by defenders, Bryanna Sabine Yalung and Edith Mendoza.

 

The dynamic group is joined by a freshman recruiting class of 5 rookies who are looking to make an immediate impact in the 2023 season:

  • Suriya Gomez
  • Mercedes Sibrian
  • Mariah Kavanaugh
  • Melanie Cruz

 

LPU kicks off their season on August 16th in an away match against Soka University. Following the match, they will face various NAIA opponents from the Cal Pac, along with a matchup against NCAA D3 opponent, University of La Verne.

 

Joey DeSantis enters his second season as the Director of Soccer at LPU. When asked to share his thoughts about the upcoming season, Coach DeSantis stated, "We are looking forward to having women's soccer back at LPU. We know the program has been on a rollercoaster, but we are looking forward to the 2023 season. We have brought in players that represent the direction we want the program to move forward as we continue to grow."
