Warriors Kick Season Off With Road Victory Over Soka

Aliso Viejo, CA On Saturday evening, the Warrior's Men's Soccer program kicked off their season on the road against Soka University for the second straight season.  And for the second straight season, the Warriors came out victorious over the Lions.  LPU finished the match with a 1-0 victory, thanks to stellar play on the defensive end.

Both teams hadn't broken a sweat before the Warriors saw their goal on the board, thanks to a beautiful through ball from Fernando Pineda, which found Juan Rodriguez, who put his strike in the back of the net.  With the Warriors on the board already in the 2nd minute, it would prove to be a defensively focused match for the remainder.  Sage Janisse, one of the Warrior's newest additions, was pivotal for LPU on the defensive end as he held the back line.  Alberto Orozco was dominant in the net, as he finished the match without a scratch on his record, saving all 4 shots that were put on goal.

The Warriors will look to build off the momentum of their first victory when they face off against NCAA DIII opponent, the Caltech Beavers, on September 11th at 10am.  When asked to reflect on the victory, Coach Joey DeSantis stated, "We have put in a good training camp, so its nice to be able to transfer all our work onto the field in tonight's match. Proud of this team and the work they put in. We will continue to grow as a team and build our foundation which should make it an exciting season for us."
