Warriors Pick Up First Conference Win of the Season
Mesa, AZ - The LPU Beach Volleyball team secured its first win of the season on Wednesday afternoon, as they defeated Park University (AZ) 4-1. With the win, the Warriors move forward to 1-1 on the season. The first pair to come out victorious were 4's, as Iliana Galindo and Gracelyn Mhyre pulled away quickly in their 2nd set, sparked by 8 aces from Galindo. Lindsey Johnson and Taylor Wilson had an epic first set in their 2's match, as they pulled out a surreal 29-27 set victory. After dropping the 2nd set, they were able to pull away in the final set and they gave the Warriors a 2-0 lead. Emma McMillan and Jocelyn Hernandez battled in the 3's, but were unable to pull out the victory. Later in the team match, the Warrior's 5's pair sealed the victory as Mya Castro and Kylie Proctor were steady and pulled off the 2-set sweep. To seal the deal, the 1's finished the job on the center court as Kate Murray and Mackenzie Stewart came out victorious, 2-0, winning both sets by a score of 21-17. The Warriors will take the momentum from their 4-1 GSAC victory over Park as they have two more conference matches tomorrow afternoon.
