Warriors Secure First Win of the Season in Sweep Over Loyola New Orleans (RV)

Butte, MT – On Friday morning, the Warriors faced off against Loyola New Orleans (RV) in their second match of the Big Sky Volleyball Challenge.  In their first match, the Warriors fell in straight sets against the #23 ranked team in the nation, Providence (MT).  Despite falling in straight sets, the Warriors were able to build off a lot of good that they did in that match, and it carried over to the next day, resulting in the sweep of Loyola New Orleans, 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-18).  There was a balanced attack from the Warriors as 4 different players finished with 6 or more kills, with Bailey Collette leading the way with 8 kills.  Freshman, Lilly Knight, was impressive for LPU as she did a little bit of everything for the Warriors, finishing with 7 kills, 3 digs, 1 block, and an assist.  Kate Smith stuffed the stat sheet as well, finishing with 7 kills, 2 assists, 2 blocks, and she led the way on the back line, finishing with 9 digs for the match.  Jadyn Armstrong was crucial in getting everyone involved at the net, as she finished with 17 assists and 6 digs.  On the defensive end, Kylie Proctor was a force at the net, finishing the match with 6 blocks.

The Warriors improve to 1-1 on the season and will look to utilize this sweep as momentum moving into the last 2 matches of the Big Sky Volleyball Challenge.  They take on Carroll College (MT) later today at 3pm PST, and then finish the tournament against Our Lady of the Lake tomorrow morning at 8am PST.

When asked to share his thoughts on their first win of the season, Coach Wes Schneider stated, "It was a great match against a really good team.  I'm so proud to see how our veterans and rookies all worked together and made it all click.  It was an inspiring performance from these ladies with an all around solid team effort!"
