Valerie Lopez Named NAIA National Defensive Player of the Week

Kansas City, MO - Freshman goalkeeper, Valerie Lopez, has been named the NAIA National Defensive Player of the Week, following her performance in LPU's matches over this past weekend.  This marks the first time in LPU history that a Warrior student-athlete has received National Player of the Week honors!

 

The Warriors went 1-0-1 this past weekend on the road, as they finished with a 0-0 tie against Park University and then defeated Benedictine Mesa, 2-0.  For the weekend as the Warrior's held both opponents scoreless, Lopez made 14 saves with a save % of 1.000.

Valerie Lopez, Life Pacific (Calif.) - FR - Goalkeeper

  • Lopez had a big week between the sticks as opponents were held scoreless.
  • Making 14 total saves on the week, 11 of those saves came in the 2-0 road victory over Benedictine Mesa (Ariz.).
  • With the big performance on the road, Lopez was a crucial part in the first win of the season for LPU.
